ITD Retreat at Kanani
The staff of IT Directorate organized a retreat picnic at the hill of Kakani (Nuwakot). The program was held in the training center of Nepal Scout. From the picnic spot pleasant panoramic view of Himalayas and the Mahabharat Mountain could be viewed perfectly.
IT Staff enjoyed the picnic by singing, dancing, playing many funny games. Some people explored the jungle in Shivapuri National Park where they could see some wild animals like wild boar, reindeer, porcupine and some birds as well as many flora and fauna.
The national park comprise of thick rain-forest and variety of decidious plants and bushes. All three Managers from ITD and manager from Switching Maintenance Department were present in the picnic.

ADSL Broadband in 75 Districts
Nepal Telecom has extended its ADSL Broadband internet service in all 75 districts. By this people living in difficult mountainous towns could get the services of broadband internet. Currently there are more than 60 thousand valid ADSL customers. The number is increasing in an explosive way.

Service Division Extends Nationwide
IT Directorate has implemented full-fledged computerized Service Division system and line maintenance system in various eight exchanges this year. Service Division (SD) system has been implemented in major Exchanges with Accounting Offices across the nation.
The system helps to maintain all customer data in a consolidate server and services can be provided to the client from one window.

New Dimension in Nepal Telecom Internet
Nepal Telecom has kept its internet bandwidth in the top among the ISPs. It has risen to 1.5 Gegabit after the 9th STM-1 Connected with Tata Comm USA. By connecting its Internet through the cross border optical fiber sytem terminating to India, Singapore and London it has provided the quality services to the clients. The Internet Gateway of Nepal Telecom is connected to the global submarine Internet system through Bharti Airtel India, Tatacomm USA and the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) through the optical fiber cable at different borders. Connecting simulteneously at different places in the border towns has provided greater amount of diversity for the Internet network of Nepal Telecom. The optical fiber connectivity has greatly helped reduce the latency of the system on top of the higher bandwidth.
