Software Section :-
Software section deals with the matters of software solutions around Nepal Telecom. This section develops new software, customizes old ones and implements them. Software section consisting engineers and supervisors having expertise in software developing and trouble shooting. Presently there are running Customer Billing System (CBS) implementation, Service Division (SD) implementation, Human Resources Management System HRMS) implementation and other customization systems i.e. store and inventory management software etc.
Software section spares its time to support the Maintenance Control System MCC as well.
Human Resource Management System (HRMS )
Human Resource Management System (HRMS) has been introduced in Nepal Telecom to give the "360-Degree view" of the information related to company's human resources. This HRMS system is developed in-house in PowerBuilder using its native database called Sybase.
Currently, HRMS system is running under Nepal Telecom's WAN network at HRD, Central Office. The system mainly stores the information of the company staff's personnel, family, service, academic, training, grade and salary information. Its queries and reports are providing tremendous help in decision making especially in the area of recruitment, promotions, transfers, and trainings. Moreover it assists to calculate retirement date, pension/gratuity amount of the staffs at a click of a button on the process of further development, the system will add-in the entire facilities (like service/Non-service telephone, service mobile, vehicle, quarter, loan, provident fund, insurance details, scholarship etc) owned by all categories of employees, their leave, rewards/ punishments, evaluation form, company's organization structure and darbandi details. On accomplishment of all this, only then HRMS system will be complete and ready to deploy in the regional-level to work online throughout the Nepal Telecom.
Customer Billing System (CBS)
In order to provide improved billing system and facilitate its customers, Nepal Telecom has been implementing the customer Billing System (CBS) CBS is an integrated billing & Ledger/online cash collection system which is based on world renowned Oracle software. The silent feature of the CBS system are as follows:
- Centralized Database
- Credit Control
- Any Collection Center Payment
- Online creation of Bills, On demand bill & Interim bill
- Online creation of Reference Bills & Interim Bills
- Centralized Ledger keeping with provision of branch activities of collection and account maintenance.
- Real time reflection of collections in all counters of Nepal Telecom
- Fully integrated Cash collection system. Customers can pay their bills at any collection counter where CBS is implemented.
- Up to date Trial Balance and Trial balance on date range
- Disconnection & Reconnection on real time basis
- Inter administration accounting with National as well as international operators.
- Database level as well as application level security.
- Online queries from the remote terminals Interface of the CBS system with the SD System of Nepal Telecom
- Input to Web Based Bill enquiry
The Bill processing module of CBS system has been implemented from Bhadra 2060. The online cash collection module was first implemented in Patan in Mangsir 2060. Since then it has been implemented in other collection centers such as Lubhu, Thaiba, Sundhara and Naxal. In the next phase it will be extended to remaining collection centers in the valley and then eventually outside valley.
Service Division (SD)
SD system is the system by which the process of telephone connection and maintenance can be viewed at once. It is hoped that by this, telecom can give fast service to the customers of PSTN telephone line. Till now 14 stations in the Kathmandu valley are attached under the SD system. Nepal Telecom started the Service Division (SD) system with the aim of establishing a single point of contact for customers in their respective exchange area within Kathmandu valley i.e. One Window System.
Beside that, the goals of SD system are as follows;
- Computerize workflow activities of sales and PSTN line maintenance process of Nepal Telecom to enhance the work efficiency.
- Secured central data storage with distributed control.
- To generate customer information in its origin.
- Instant information retrieval.
- Sharing of same customer information.
- To minimize the total number of days for the new line connection
- To minimize the total number of days for the maintenance of subscriber's basic telephone line.
- Effective MIS reporting.
- Better coordination between service units.
- SD System has been implemented in various exchange areas phase wise. In the initial phase, few desk (sales registration desk, MDF, MCC and Sub-MCC) of major exchanges within Kathmandu valley such as Sundhara, Patan, Chabahil, Chhauni, Naxal, Gongabu and Bhadrakali (Hattigauda) have been connected and computerized.
In the full fledged SD system, all desks for new line connection and PSTN line maintenance process have been connected. Recently, full fledged SD system has been implemented in Sundhara, Bhaktapur, Thimi and Naxal exchange areas successfully. After implementing full fledge SD system, Nepal Telecom is able to distribute new line within 2 or 3 days in technically feasible areas. Nepal Telecom has the aim of on-demand distribution of PSTN service in future
Nepal telecom is in the process of expanding full fledging SD system in other remaining exchange area within valley and outside valley.
Internet Section :-
With the objective of providing cheap and quality internet services to the
customers from every part of the country, Internet section was established
in 1999. Nepal Telecom has begun its Internet service since May, 2000.
Initially the Internet section was under New Service Directorate. It came
under Computer Department since 1st Asad, 2063. From the beginning of F.Y.
2063/64 (i.e. 1st Sravan, 2063) All financial activities of internet
dial-up, Leased line and ISDN customers were undertaken by 6 Regional
Offices i.e. Biratnagar, Birgunj, Kathmandu, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and
Dhangadhi. Technical part is undertaken by Computer Dept.
We are providing leased line connection capacity upto 2Mbps, ISDN connection upto 128Mbps and dial-up connection upto 64kbps.
Presently we have more than Ten Thousand customers in the country altogether.
