Email Configuration with Outlook Express

Proceed as follows to configure your email account in Microsoft Outlook Express. Here the email account taken is 'yourmail' which gives email address yourmail@ntc.net.np . You can replace 'yourmail' by your own mail id that you got from Nepal Telecom.
  1. Open Outlook Express

  2. On the menu, select Tools -> Accounts. (Fig. 1)

  3. This will open the accounts dial box. Select Mail at the top. (Fig. 2)

  4. For new account setup, click Add -> Mail at the right side of the dialog box.

  5. Provide the information as illustrated in Fig. 3 onwards.

  6. In Fig. 3.3, supply the name of the person or organization who is the owner of the email account.

  7. Click Next and in Fig. 3.4, supply the email address.

  8. Click Next to get Fig. 3.5. Here, supply the server names as : 'pop3.ntc.net.np' for Incoming and 'smtp.ntc.net.np' for Outgoing.

  9. Click Next and you will be asked for username and password. Provide your mail id ('yourmail' here) and password. (Fig. 3.6)

  10. Click Next and click Finish. A new account is now created. (Fig. 3.7)

Changing / setting configuration of an existing account
  1. If you have already set up an account then, you can adjust its configurations. For this, you have to bring up the mail account window of Fig. 7 by selecting Tools -> Accounts from the menu.

  2. Highlight the appropriate account (here its name is pop3.ntc.net.np) and click Properties at the right hand side.

  3. You will get Properties window as shown in Fig. 8.

  4. Check and adjust account configurations as shown in Fig. 3.8 through Fig. 11.

  5. On Fig. 9, put pop3.ntc.net.np in Incoming, smtp.ntc.net.np in Outgoing, your mail id (yourmail here) in Account Name and your password in Password fields.

  6. Once all the configurations are properly completed, you can start sending and receiving emails using your Nepal Telecom email account.

    Upon checking for new mails, if your password has been changed or mistyped, it will again ask for your password as shown in Fig. 3.12. You once again type your password correctly over here and press OK.

    For those who have subscribed to email-only service from Nepal Telecom, and if you are not getting your connection you can also use ’emailntc’ as both userid and password while connecting to Nepal Telecom. Do not change the account name in your mail program such as the Outlook Express.
