Voice mailbox service (VMS) is a kind of value added telecom service based on intelligent network platform. It can replace the answering machine adding more interactive service features. In this system, customers do not need to add any equipment to their telephone set. This service can be used by dialing access code from any phone. This VMS is also can be used for fax mail.
Any mailbox owner should divert their call to VMS in their either absence or busy or both so that they could get their message when any caller calls to them. Subscribers can hear his message from any PSTN phone in any time which is the most important feature of this service.
1. Services
Voicemail service: - In this type of service only voice message can be deposited in the mailbox and retrieved from mailbox.
Fax mail service: - This type of service is nothing but the message content is Fax instead of voice. All features are available as in voice service.
Voice/fax mail service: - In this type of service both voice and fax message can be retrieved and deposited. There is selection option for voice and fax message.
Notice Board Service: - Notice board is also a supplementary voice service in which mailbox owner (Host) can record his/her notice message in the mailbox. When guest dials that number he/she will hear the notice message recorded by mailbox owner.
This type of Service is especially suitable for offices business organization and other different organization who can record their notices and information in their phone so that their customers can get information by dialing their telephone number.
2. Types of mailbox
Common Mailbox: - This is the mailbox for those subscribers who have their own PSTN phone number.
Virtual Mailbox: - This is the Mailbox for those subscribers who do not have their own PSTN phone number. In this mailbox, a virtual number is given, other than phone number.
Irrespective to the type of mailbox all the services are available in both type of mailbox.
3. Features
The following features are available in the system.
Mailbox owner can record his incoming telephone messages to the mailbox in his either busy or in absence.
Mailbox owner can set the following parameters of his mailbox from telephone
password of host
password of guest
Active/De-active guest authentication
Active/De-active message acknowledgement
Active/De-active instant access
Active/De-active different notification mode
Choose personal or system greeting.
Can record his personal voice as greeting
Method to record personal greeting
After dialing 1616, Press 5 to change the mailbox setting
Press 1 to set greeting
Press 2 to set your personal greeting
Record your greeting message when you hear beep tone and press # key at end of the greeting message
To confirm the message press 1
Press 2 to record again
When there is new message in mailbox, VMS system gives the notification to owner by telephone, SMS and email.
After dialing 1616, Press 5 to change the mailbox setting
Press 2 to choose notification mode
Press 1 to notify in phone number (any number you can put. For PSTN phone, set telephone number as 014241566)
Press 2 to notify by SMS .( input mobile or CDMA number for SMS notification)
Press 3 to notify by email.( input your email address in your voicemail box from Nepal Telecom's website)
Press 9 to deactivate all notification modes.
In email notification voice message is also sent as attachment file.
The incoming date, time and telephone number of the message can be known.
The received message can be saved, deleted, replied to the message sender (call back) and forwarded to desired phone numbers and mailboxes.
Message sender (Guest) can leave the message to the host in their desired time( Timed mailing)
Message can be retrieved from any PSTN phone any time.
Mailbox owner can send his own recorded message to the many telephone numbers at a time in his desired time. (Broadcasting of message).
Access to the message through internet
Mailbox owner can access to the message from Nepal telecom's website by giving Username (voice mailbox number) and password. The following parameters are available in the website.
Inbox: - In Inbox we can see the status of message (saved or not), we can play message, can see telephone no, we can see date and time of sender, time length of message, and can delete the message.
Send mail: - Owner can send files selecting from his location to required email address.
Setting: - From setting, we can activate or deactivate Notification mode like phone notification, SMS notification, and email notification mode. Notification telephone number, SMS notification number and email address also can be set.
Profile: - From profile we can change personal parameter like name, address, telephone number including following parameter.
Activate /deactivate message acknowledgement
Activate /deactivate Guest Authenticate
Change guest Password
Address-book: -In address book, we can make the list of guest name and his phone number in our VMS system. Then ,when the guest which is in our address book list ,leave message, then VMS system also announce the name of caller also when host hear this message.
Change password: - For changing password only numeric value is valid
4. Deposit and Retrieval of message
Deposit
Direct Deposit - Direct deposit is especially for virtual mailbox users but it can be used for common mailbox also. To leave message directly
Dial 1615+Mailbox number#
Indirect Deposit: - Indirect deposit is especially for common mailbox user (having PSTN number). For indirect deposit the incoming telephone calls should be diverted as below in 1614 (voice mail) so that all incoming telephone calls are recorded in mailbox.
No Answer transfer - *61*LC*1614#
Busy transfer - *60*LC*1614#
E-10 system does not need LC
Where LC=Locking code
Retrieval
Direct Retrieval: - By this method we can get message from mailbox by dialing 1616 from own telephone phone number. You do not require password to retrieve message by dialing 1616.
Indirect retrieval: - From indirect retrieval method, we can get message from mailbox other than own telephone by dialing 1610. After dialing 1610 the system ask for mailbox number. The mailbox number is your own telephone number including area code without 0(zero) and at last press # key. Again system asks for password. So, you should input password and # key at the end. The password length is 4 to 6 digit.
5. Beneficiary Group
Subscribers who do not have their own telephone number (Virtual mailbox).
Subscribers who are looking for answering machine.
Subscribers who do not have their own fax machine (Fax mailbox).
Those telephones which are busy with Internet.
Customers seeking to put up some material of their company or agency (information or notice or short advertisement) can use Notice Board Service. When such material has been put-up (by recording the material), and when the customer calls to that particular telephone number, the customer can hear the material.
